Bach in the Dark - A celebration of cello playing - CANCELLED

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this event has been cancelled.

This concert will be something special to mark the middle of the ‘Bach in the Dark’ year. It’s a celebration of friendships old and new!

The ‘old’ friendship is the relationship Rachel has with her former teacher and dear friend, David Pereira. David is a ‘Bach in the Dark’ series regular (and audience favourite!), and the two cellists will be presenting a concert with all their favourite duos they’ve played over the near-decade they have been performing together. Get ready for some wonderful music-making in the amazing acoustics of the tunnel. The two friends will play music by Bach, Barrière, Bartók, Ross Edwards and David Pereira – and a few other delights!

The ‘new’ friendship is between Rachel and her 2020 wine sponsor, the lovely Michael Hall from Michael Hall wines (you can read more about them here…). To celebrate Michael’s wine-making, at the start and end of the concert, there will be a wine-tasting of Michael’s favourite wines, with the opportunity to buy these delicious wines at a special ‘Bach in the Dark’ price. You can meet the winemaker and try what he has to offer both before and after the concert. What a night!

Want to know more about David? You can read all about him here

In 2016, Rachel and David recorded a CD called ‘Dreaming with Daisy’. Want to hear the two friends playing together? Just go here

Just so you know….

The concert will begin at 7.00, but the tasting before the concert will start from 6.15pm…

There’s no public transport to this venue. The floors are uneven, and the tunnel is open at both ends (although the concert is in the middle of this very long tunnel), so you may need to dress warmly if you feel the cold, and be prepared to walk carefully. Sensible shoes are recommended! There are no toilet facilities in the tunnel – you’ll need to catch the lift up to where you enter the complex. There is also no disabled access.

By purchasing this ticket you agree to abide by all instructions given to you by Bach in the Dark or North Sydney Council staff. You understand that you are entering a former industrial site with non-level flooring, open guttering and possible water dripping.
